Educator | Morehouse Man | Advocate
El-Mahdi, or "EL" as his friends and students call him, has proudly called Henry County his home since 2003. He's active as a local educator at Eagles Landing Middle School and a seasoned political campaign strategist.
El-Mahdi has always felt a call to serve his community and neighbors. As a volunteer coordinator, he developed projects to protect Georgia's youth from human sex trafficking, to promote adult literacy and to provide job training for nonprofit organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, the Atlanta Community Food Bank, and The Salvation Army. For his early activism and commitment to children, El-Mahdi was awarded the Presidential National Youth Service Award from President Bill Clinton.
El-Mahdi also helps create innovative programs on the Executive Board of the Morehouse College Atlanta Alumni Association, where he has fostered relationships between young people and members of the business community.
Further answering his call to serve, at the suggestion of his late sister, El-Mahdi embarked on a seasoned career in political campaign management. He has served in several key roles to support candidates like US Senator Cory Booker and Georgia State Senator Tonya Anderson.
El-Mahdi has been an avid supporter of Democratic politics in Georgia, working for the Georgia House Democratic Caucus and the Democratic Party of Georgia, where he coordinated outreach activities with voters and community groups in 26 Georgia counties, including Henry.
He has also worked as a senior law clerk and criminal warrant officer for Georgia's largest county, supporting state & local law enforcement officers to help keep communities safe.
El-Mahdi and his three sisters were raised by their loving parents, Timothy and Cynthia, in Atlanta and Sandy Springs. He earned a Bachelors Degree in Political Science and English from Morehouse College. He also holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of West Georgia.
El-Mahdi is a proud member of Tabernacle of Praise Church International, under the care of Pastor Timothy J. McBride. In his spare time, El-Mahdi enjoys outdoor activities, interfaith outreach and spending time with his family.
